One of the most satisfying opportunities and one where we need the most committed volunteers is in the
role of mentor to the program participants. Each Christian Women’s Job Corps student is assigned
a mentor who commits to a one–year relationship with the student. This piece of the CWJC program
is truly the heart and soul of the ministry. It is so important for each participant to have someone she
can call on for encouragement and support after the official program ends. This relationship helps the
woman keep the commitments she made while in the program and gives her the support she needs to make real
and lasting changes in her life. The mentor agrees to pray for her assigned mentee and to contact her
mentee at least weekly. She agrees to have regular Bible studies and helps the mentee be accountable
for her choices. Mentor training includes a three–hour workshop, a two–hour goal setting seminar
(attended with mentee) and attendance at a one hour monthly mentor support group meeting for the
mentoring year.
