Christian Women's Job Corps® of Madison County, Alabama, Inc.
Guiding women to a better future...giving hope, education and self-sufficiency to women in need
A Ministry of WMU®

CWJC History

In August of 1997, four women from Huntsville attended the first national Christian Women’s Job Corps certification training in Birmingham, Alabama, along with 200 people from across the United States. The first CWJC class began with nine women in September of 1998. The National CWJC program was recognized by the White House in 1999 as a viable program for assisting women in transition from welfare to work.

CWJC has a community–based Board of Directors, 501(c)3 nonprofit status, and an army of volunteers who serve in a variety of ways. Most importantly, CWJC continues to graduate students who are now involved in the next step to becoming independent. Some are completing their GED requirements, attending a community college, or preparing for the job market. These successful graduates are living proof that CWJC makes a profound difference in the lives of women.

CWJC Mission

The mission of Christian Women’s Job Corps® of Madison County, Alabama, Inc. is to equip area women with the life and employment skills needed for them to obtain self–sufficiency. With the support of area volunteers, our goal is to break the cycle of poverty, be it financial or poverty of spirit.

CWJC Statement of Faith

  1. We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  2. We believe that the Bible is God’s written revelation to man and that it is divinely inspired and authoritative. The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.
  3. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but because of sin, was alienated from God. That alienation can be removed only by accepting through faith alone God’s gift of salvation, which was made possible by Christ’s death.
  4. We believe that Jesus Christ came seeking to save each person so that He could give them abundant and eternal life.
  5. We believe that we find the way, the truth, and abundant eternal life in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as His Holy Spirit indwells us and then leads and empowers us each day.
